EFL ANALYSIS AND DESIGN -2022
This three hour credit course guides the students to understand the philosophy of Instructional Design and models of learning, which helps them to design a syllabus and lesson plan relevant to the EFL context in different fields either for English for Academic Purposes or English for Specific Purposes. This course also enriches the students to be competent in selecting and developing appropriate learning material, methods/strategies, media, and assessment. They are also required to have competency in conducting teaching practices in the real fields of tertiary level of education and further doing reflection by using a lesson study model.

This course is a course that helps students have the competence to do statistical-assisted quantitative research in the fields of English Language Education, Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, Discourse, and English for Special Purposes covering the basic principles of the approach of scientific research, formulation of problems and hypotheses in the context of quantitative research, concepts of constructs and variables in the context of quantitative research, the concepts of probability, randomization, and sampling in context quantitative research, quantitative research methodologies, quantitative research designs, procedures data collection in the context of quantitative research, principles of data analysis and interpretation and findings in the context of quantitative research, basic statistical concepts, data concepts and quantitative scales, statistical principles descriptive (central tendency and dispersion), inferential statistical concepts (hypothesis testing, multiple comparison, correlation, and regression), data analysis techniques with programs in the research context quantitative research, and the concept of writing quantitative research proposals assisted by statistics.

This subject deals with three approaches to assessment (assessment of learning, as learning, and for learning). It also deals with many types of assessments (which cover test and non-test techniques). The examples of each type and its rubric of assessment are also explained and practiced in the form of workshops.
