Prose_Putu Suarcaya

Course modified date: 26 Mar 2021

This course has the objective to develop students' skills in appreciating literary works, especially, prose. The skills develop are those which can be useful for their future needs when they teach English as a foreign language in school. Skills such as reading prose aesthetically, criticising a text, and making meaning from prose on the basis of critical theories, and developing literary works as sources of learning for TEFL are practiced to equip the students in their process as prospective EFL teachers.

Learning activities are full of student's independent individual learning focusing on appreciating a text for the sake of criticising and making meaning from it. Students are challenged to make a stance on their own in relation to the text. At the end of the semester, as a final project, students are assigned a project to develop teaching materials from literary works, especially prose, for teaching EFL.
