Introduction to Sociolinguistics Kelas VI B

This course introduces students to the correlation of social structure and linguistic behavior. The course covers topics including how language is used productively in society, how social structures mirror, map onto, and transform linguistic structures; the attitudes of speakers have about each other and whether the attitudes influence linguistic behavior. Introductions will be given to the major social linguistic variables such as age, gender, ethnicity, race, socioeconomic status, social class, and stylistic variation. Hands-on practice with conducting mini research will be highlighted.
