Teaching English as a Foreign Language (RPL)

This course covers theories in language teaching and its applications, with reference to EFL teaching and learning. The topic to be covered throughout the semester are: TEFL notion; criteria of a good English teacher; four teacher competencies; the nature of approach, method and technique; various teaching methods including its characteristics, strengths and weaknesses also how it is implemented in the classroom; differentiated instruction; technique to teach listening, reading, speaking, writing and the integrated skills. This course aims to produce English teachers who have the four competencies, they are: professional competency, pedagogical competency, personal competency and social competency that will be a basic foundation to be a professional teacher.
