Course modified date: 3 Oct 2022

Students' existing knowledge of Sociolinguistics will be built upon in the Advanced Sociolinguistics course, allowing them to get a deeper comprehension of the subject. Students will read and analyse basic papers in Sociolinguistics and more recent, cutting-edge research to delve deeper into some of the most important current issues relevant to language and society. Diverse topics may be covered, including methodologies that demonstrate how these questions can be addressed from the perspective of both language production and perception; the motivations, conditions, and social consequences of morphosyntactic and phonetic variation; monolingual and multilingual contexts from around the world; and some of the complexities of language variation and social inequality. The students will conduct an original research project based on the topics addressed in class. Discourse analysis is a method for studying the social context of written or spoken language. It seeks to comprehend how language is used in real-world contexts and focuses on: The functions and effects of various forms of language: Cultural rules and norms in communication: How assumptions, values, and beliefs are communicated: The relationship between language usage and its social, political, and historical contexts.

Course modified date: 11 Nov 2022

Statistics for Advance Research gives doctorate students a basics understanding for a range of quantitative statistical techniques. The goals is to the students the potential for these techniques as well as intepret the result. The course covers formulation of problem and research hypotheses that require multivariate statistical analysis for testing, introduction to multivariate techniques, multivariate analysis of variance, multivariate analysis of covariance, profile analysis, cluster analysis, factor analysis, path analysis, canonical analysis, and structural equation modelling (SEM). All techniques are discussed analytically by calculating manually and with the help of application packages, such as SPSS, AMOS, LISREL, SmartPLS or R.

Advanced Educational Research Methodology

Advanced Educational Research Methodology

Course modified date: 27 Nov 2022

This course aims to develop student competencies in planning and carrying out quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods research in the fields of Educational Sciences. Topics/study materials include research designs, data collection procedures, principles of analysis and interpretation of data and findings, concepts of inferential statistics (hypothesis testing, multiple comparison, correlation, and regression) advanced level, data analysis techniques with programs, and the concept of writing quantitative and qualitative research proposals assisted by statistics. The teaching and learning process is carried out interactively, holistically, scientifically, thematically, effectively, and collaboratively on students, which involves a critical review of theoretical and empirical studies related to previous studies that are relevant to the topics raised in the proposal in the field of education. As a subject in the field of interdisciplinary studies, students are required to engage in many discussions and reviews utilizing knowledge from various perspectives and related academic disciplines. Through project-based learning, students are required to make a proposal and send it to the learning management system at the end of the semester. The final score is assessed based on a process-based assessment and the results of the final project in the form of a research proposal.
